The final run of the Downhill series was run & run over the weekend in dry and dusty conditions in the Smithfield Mountain Bike Park. The course was fast, but proved tricky with the full extent of the dry season taking effect for all riders noting the difficulty in keeping traction at all times. Regardless, spirits were high and the overall titles decided as riders concluded their final timed run for 2018 down the Nationals DH Course.
It goes without saying, a huge thank-you goes out to all the tireless organisers, helpers, sponsors, volunteers and of course riders, friends & families for making the series what it is!
Congratulations to all podium placers from the weekend! We are preparing for a special ‘Cairns MTB Club DH Champs’ at the end of the month on the Worlds DH Course, so we are looking forward to seeing you all again for one last race, for the ultimate bragging rights! Tell your friends, and bring a volunteer! We cannot safely run this course without a minimum number of course marshals, so we need your help!
Thanks again to the race sponsors & supporters and everyone else who makes these races happen:
Tropic Rides MTB shuttles and Tours
Edge Cycleworks for podium prizes
Spudhead for keeping our bellies full
And all track marshals, shuttle drivers & timers!
