Sunday saw the biggest and best day of enduro racing for round 3 of the series. The race kicked off at Kennedy Park, outside of Macalister Brewing Company, and 50 racers took off and made their way up the brutal Chatham Terrace to enter the halfway point of the Kuranda Downhill where riders dropped into Stage 1 for the first ever time this track has ever been raced.
Racers safely transited back to Smithfield Mountain Bike Park where the Elite men and women and the under 19’s made it up to World’s and into Clooney’s. They then met up with the rest of the pack, after subjecting themselves to climbing the driveway of the German’s house and back down into Vines for Stage 3. Stage 4 took riders from Nationals and into the new Cuss Cuss trail and then finally, digging in to shoot down Black Snake to complete Stage 5.
But the race wasn’t over there. They then legged it to Macalister Brewing Company for rehydration. A huge thanks to Macalisters for welcoming a bunch of sweaty, dirty mountain bike racers and a great spot for podium announcements.
Congratulations to all podium placers, and to all riders for getting out and having fun!
Cheers to the race sponsors & supporters and everyone else who makes these races happen:
Macalister Brewing Company & Discovery Cycles for podium prizes
And all race timers!
Reilly Hurst and Melissa Popov were on track multi-tasking with both timing and taking shots. See their photos below.
